Berenice or vera icon
One account traces Veronica to the Greek Pherenike, carrier of victory, which reached Latin through the Macedonian Berenice. The other reads it as the Latin phrase vera icon, true image, attached to the legend of the cloth. Scholars have not settled it, and the second may be a later reading of a name that already existed. English keeps Veronica and Veronika side by side, along with short forms such as Ronnie, each a string of its own.
The R does the heavy lifting
R is worth 9, the top value in the table, and no other letter here comes close. The eight letters add to 42 for an Expression of 6.
