Ava: name numerology
Enter a name and a date of birth — the same engine that produced this page does the arithmetic.
Work out your own name
The same name, counted four different ways — and only the fourth touches your date.
All four arrive as one document. Each chapter says first what that number describes for anybody, and only then reads the one your letters produced; the same file comes to your email as a PDF made for printing.
This page counts one spelling of one name. The document says what that costs the method — spell the name another way and the numbers move with it — and it says so in the first chapter, not in a footnote at the end.

The number costs nothing and asks for no address. The written reading is the paid part.

Ava is three letters totalling 6, the smallest sum on this site, and the Expression is 6 with nothing to fold. The single V leaves the Personality at 4, and the two A letters give a Soul Urge of 2.

A short name with a long argument behind it
Ava is recorded in medieval Germany as a name in its own right, probably a short form of longer names beginning with the element av-, and it is the root Aveline and Evelyn grew from. Latin avis, a bird, and a Persian source have both been proposed and neither is settled. The actress Ava Gardner brought it into English use in the 1940s, and it has been in the American top fifteen for two decades.
Nothing to fold anywhere
A is 1, V is 4 and A is 1. Six is the whole total, and because it is already a single digit the Expression is 6 straight off — no reduction step exists for this name. The same is true of both halves. One consonant means the Personality is simply V at 4, and two A letters mean the Soul Urge is 1 plus 1. A is also the one letter the two tables agree about completely, worth 1 in the breakdown above and 1 in the soul cipher, so nothing here can move.
Frequently asked
Is this the smallest total possible?
For a three-letter name it is close to it. Only a string made entirely of letters in the first column could go lower, and few names are.
Does Eva give the same figures?
It does not. E is worth 5 in the table and 3 in the soul cipher against A at 1, so swapping the first letter moves the total and both column figures.
Why is there no folding at any stage?
Every sum here is already below ten. Folding only applies when a total reaches two digits, and none of these three does.
