A name changed at the moment of naming
In Genesis the child is first called Ben-oni, son of my sorrow, by his dying mother, and immediately renamed Binyamin by his father: son of the right hand, which in Hebrew idiom means the south or the favoured side. The renaming is written into the text, so the name arrives already carrying an argument about itself. English took it through Greek and Latin without altering the letters much, and it is eleventh in the United States.
A letter counted twice over
B is 2, E is 5, N is 5, J is 1, A is 1, M is 4, I is 9 and the second N is 5. Thirty-two folds to 5. The J is what makes this name worth looking at: in the table above it is an ordinary consonant worth 1, but the English soul cipher treats J as a vowel. So it joins E, A and I in the soul column at 1, giving 3 plus 1 plus 1 plus 6, eleven and a 2, and stays out of the consonant column, where B, N, M and N reach 16 and fold to 7.

Why is J in the vowel column?
The soul cipher used in English treats J and Y as vowels. It is a property of that cipher, not a claim about how the letter is pronounced.
Do Ben and Benji count separately?
They do. Each is its own string of letters, and neither total resembles the eight-letter one on this page.
Is the Hebrew Binyamin the same result?
No. It swaps the E for an I and adds a Y, both of which are heavier letters, so the total rises and every figure changes.
