An Irish hero, a Scottish forgery, a Swedish king
The Irish Oscar is read as os, a deer, plus cara, a friend. James Macpherson put the character into his Ossian poems of the 1760s, which he presented as ancient Gaelic verse and largely wrote himself. Napoleon admired them enough to name his godson Oscar, and that godson became king of Sweden in 1844 — which is how an Irish name became a Scandinavian royal one. An unrelated Old English Osgar may also lie behind some English uses.
Twenty, and where nine of it sits
O is 6, S is 1, C is 3, A is 1 and R is 9. The R alone is nearly half the total, and the two vowels contribute seven of the remaining eleven. Twenty folds to 2 through a single step. The consonants S, C and R reach 13 and fold to 4. On the vowel side O drops from 6 to 4 in the soul cipher while A holds at 1, so the Soul Urge is 5 — one more than the consonant figure, from two letters against three.
Does the film award affect anything?
No. The statuette took the name in the 1930s from an unrecorded joke, and the calculation reads the five letters regardless of what else they name.
Is Oskar with a K different?
It is. K is worth 2 and C is worth 3, so the total drops by one and both the Expression and the Personality move.
Why does R weigh so much?
R is the last letter of the second row of the table, which puts it at nine — the highest value any letter can carry.
