Noah, letter by letter
Each letter carries its value from this language’s table. They add to 20, which reduces to an Expression number of 2.
| Letter | Value |
|---|---|
| n | 5 |
| o | 6 |
| a | 1 |
| h | 8 |
| Total | 20 |
The breakdown above uses this language’s letter table. The Soul Urge is built from a separate vowel cipher, so adding up the values in this list will not reproduce it.
A name the text explains twice
The Hebrew is Noaḥ, from a root meaning rest. Genesis then glosses it a second way, tying the name to comfort through a different root entirely, which is the kind of wordplay biblical naming is full of. English took the spelling through Greek and Latin without altering it, so the four letters here are close to the original. It is now the second commonest boys name in the United States and the second in England and Wales, having spent most of the twentieth century almost unused.
The heaviest letter is silent
N is 5, O is 6, A is 1 and H is 8. The H, which nobody pronounces in English, is the single largest value in the name and carries nearly half the total of twenty. Fold twenty and the Expression is 2 — a low figure produced by a short name rather than by light letters. The consonants N and H give 13 and a 4. The vowels are the only place the two tables disagree: O drops from 6 to 4 in the soul cipher, so with A the Soul Urge is 5.

Does the silent H really count?
Every letter you write is counted, whether or not it is sounded. Drop the H and the total falls from twenty to twelve, changing all three figures at once.
What about the Hebrew spelling?
Hebrew letters have their own numerical values and a different system entirely. This page reads the four Latin letters you type, using the English table only.
Is Noe or Noa the same result?
No. Each is a different string: Noe swaps A and H for an E, and Noa simply drops the H. Both give totals and figures of their own.
