A Frankish knight and a Norse ancestor
Olivier is Roland companion in the eleventh-century French epic, and the form the Normans brought to England. Where it came from before that is unsettled: one account has it from the olive, another from the Norse Áleifr — the name behind Olaf — reshaped by scribes who recognised a Latin word in it. In England the association with Cromwell suppressed the name for two centuries, and Dickens revived it in 1838. It is now top three in both English-speaking rankings.

Not at all. Where a name came from has no effect on the calculation, which reads only the letters in the spelling you enter.
Why is the Expression exactly the fold of thirty-six?
Thirty-six reduces to nine in one step because three plus six is nine. Any total whose digits sum to nine behaves this way.
