Ivan: name numerology
Two of Ivan's three numbers arrive without any reduction at all: the vowels total 7 and the consonants total 9. The full name is a different story — 19 becomes 10 and then 1, two rounds of reduction for a four-letter name.

Ivan, letter by letter
Each letter carries its value from this language’s table. They add to 19, which reduces to an Expression number of 1.
| Letter | Value |
|---|---|
| i | 9 |
| v | 4 |
| a | 1 |
| n | 5 |
| Total | 19 |
The breakdown above uses this language’s letter table. The Soul Urge is built from a separate vowel cipher, so adding up the values in this list will not reproduce it.
A Russian name that English kept
Ivan entered English whole, spelling and all, rather than being converted into John — the two are the same name at the root, Hebrew Yochanan by way of Greek Ioannes, but English has always used them as separate names. That matters here, because John and Ivan share nothing arithmetically: different letters, different sums, different results. Vanya is a third string again, and so is the Cyrillic spelling.
Four letters, three sums, two of them final
The letters are I at 9, V at 4, A at 1 and N at 5, which is 19. Reducing that gives 10, and 10 reduces again to an Expression of 1; most names finish in a single pass. The consonants V and N add to 9 exactly, so the Personality is read straight off the sum with nothing further to do. The vowels go through the separate cipher, where I is 6 rather than 9, and 6 plus 1 is 7. A short name leaves little room for sums to climb past ten, which is why two of these three numbers are simply their own totals.

Is Ivan calculated as John?
No. They are the same name historically, but they are spelled with different letters, and the method adds letters rather than tracing history.
Why did the Expression need reducing twice?
Because 19 becomes 1 + 9, which is 10, and 10 is still two digits, so it becomes 1 + 0. The rule simply repeats until one digit is left.
Does Vanya give the same numbers?
No. Vanya has five letters including a Y, which this method counts as a vowel, so both the vowel set and the total change.
