Grace: name numerology

The answer appears right on this screen — no email is needed for that.

The same name, counted four different ways — and only the fourth touches your date.

All four arrive as one document. Each chapter says first what that number describes for anybody, and only then reads the one your letters produced; the same file comes to your email as a PDF made for printing.

This page counts one spelling of one name. The document says what that costs the method — spell the name another way and the numbers move with it — and it says so in the first chapter, not in a footnote at the end.

4 chapters

  • What the whole name adds up to
  • What the vowels are said to want
  • What the consonants show first
  • Where the tradition has the two numbers meet

You can read the whole document before you type anything: a complete example is published for an invented date — the same file you receive, open to the last chapter.

The breakdown above uses this language’s letter table. The Soul Urge is built from a separate vowel cipher, so adding up the values in this list will not reproduce it.

A virtue name from the Reformation

Latin gratia gave English the ordinary noun, and Protestant families in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries began using abstract nouns as girls names: Faith, Hope, Prudence, Mercy, Charity, Grace. Most of that set has since disappeared and this one has not. It came back into general use in the 1990s and is now thirty-eighth in the United States and twenty-seventh in England and Wales, long detached from the naming fashion that produced it.

A consonant column that folds twice

G is 7, R is 9, A is 1, C is 3 and E is 5. Twenty-five folds to 7. What is worth noticing is the consonant side: G, R and C add to 19, which reduces to 10 and then to 1, two steps down from a sum that started larger than the vowel half by a wide margin. The vowels are A at 1 and E at 3 in the soul cipher, for a Soul Urge of 4 with no reduction at all. The name ends with the smallest possible Personality figure.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Why does the Personality fold so far?

Nineteen becomes ten and ten becomes one. Any sum whose digits eventually reach ten lands on one, however large it started.

Is Gracie counted separately?

Yes. Adding I and E puts fourteen more into the total and two more letters into the vowel column, moving every figure.

Does the ordinary English word matter here?

Not to the arithmetic. The table reads five letters and would return the same three figures for any word spelled this way.
