Artemis, Artemios and a shortened form
The Greek source is Artemios, formed on the name of Artemis, goddess of the hunt and of wild country. Church Slavonic kept the long form, which Russian writes Artemy and Ukrainian Artemiy, while everyday speech wore it down to Artem, and that short version is what appears on passports today. English has no native form of this name at all, so it borrows the Cyrillic spelling directly — and unusually for a Slavic name, both Cyrillic languages transliterate to the very same five Latin letters.
Five letters, no repeats, one heavy R
A is 1, R is 9, T is 2, E is 5 and M is 4 in the main table, for a total of 21 and an Expression of 3. R alone outweighs A, T and E put together, which makes a short name lean hard on its second letter. The consonants R, T and M come to 15 and a Personality of 6. It is the same name written out for the Russian yo sound, and it counts differently: six letters instead of five, a total of 29, and an Expression of 2 rather than 3.
Does the Cyrillic spelling give 3 as well?
No. Russian Артём reduces to 8 and Ukrainian Артем to 6. Each language reads the letters from its own table, so three spellings of one name give three Expression numbers.
Is the name related to the word Artemis?
By descent yes: Artemios was formed from the goddess name. Artemis adds I and S to the same five letters and totals 31 rather than 21, so no number carries over.
